The CSO collects trustworthy data and insights about our economy for use by households, communities, enterprises, decision-makers, public services and researchers.
The information we collect in our enterprise surveys is used by economists and researchers to understand the business economy, by policy makers across Government, and by individuals and enterprises who want more information on their sector. Enterprise surveys are not just about economic activity but also provide much needed information on how businesses are doing, how they are meeting new challenges like digitalisation and green transition, and how they contribute to our society.
Failure to return this survey puts your enterprise in breach of its statutory obligation, which means that your enterprise has a legal obligation to return it once selected. We wish to be transparent and fair to survey respondents by giving advance notice of our intention to increase activity around enforcement.
We appreciate the time and resources required to complete these surveys, and we will help in any way we can.
All enterprise surveys are statutory, which means that your enterprise has a legal obligation to return it once selected. There is strong legislation underpinning all of our Enterprise Surveys.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide copies of previous submissions, but we may be able to discuss your previous returns over the phone, if that helps. We encourage everyone to save or print a copy of their survey when they submit it. You will have 5 minutes to do so after you submit the eQ.
It is possible that you completed the survey but did not press submit, in which case you would need to log into the eQ system again using your CSO Identifier and PIN. If the survey data is saved you will see it when the survey reloads. You can then click on ‘Submit answers’. When submitted successfully, a confirmation window will pop up.
Please let us know immediately using the contact details on your survey request. Please include the CSO identifier on your survey request so that we can update the contact details as required and redirect the survey to the correct person.
The survey is issued to the enterprise. The contact name is included to help the enterprise identify the appropriate contact for the survey.
In the event of a contact no longer being with the company, the survey should be completed by the person who has taken over their role. Please notify us and include the CSO identifier on your survey request so that we can update the contact details as required and redirect the survey to the correct person.
Under Sections 26 and 27 of the Statistics Act 1993, you are obliged by law to complete and return information requested in a statutory inquiry. Any person who fails or refuses to provide this information by the provided date, or who knowingly provides false information, is guilty of a criminal offence and may, following conviction, be subject to a fine of up to €44,440.
